Seasonal Information Specialist I at Carl Hayden Visitor Center at Glen Canyon Dam, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Job Description
The Seasonal Information Specialist I process the sales of books and other educational materials, stocks shelves and other general inventory maintenance duties, participates in general interpretation and visitor information inside and outside of the visitor center, works with the NPS District Interpreter to achieve the interpretive goals of the site at Carl Hayden Visitor Center, Page, Arizona.
Site Description
The Carl Hayden Visitor Center is located approx. 1 mile from Page, Arizona on Highway 89 at Glen Canyon Dam. The landscape is magnificent, with plenty of Navajo sandstone canyons to explore. The Page area is a great starting point for explorations within Glen Canyon NRA, Grand Staircase-Escalante NM, Rainbow Bridge NM, Vermilion Cliffs NM, and the Colorado Plateau as a whole.
Qualifications
Applicants should be able to work unsupervised and be <b>enthusiastic</b> and <b>proactive</b> in communicating with visitors, and possess supervisory and sales experience. Knowledge of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Lake Powell, Dixie National Forest, and the Colorado Plateau is a plus as is foreign language skills.
Season
The season begins March 2012 and runs through October 2012. Scheduled hours are 24 to 40 per week.
Salary
GS1/1 equivalent ($9.74 per hour)

Job Description
The Seasonal Tour Guide leads groups of visitors on guided tours of Glen Canyon Dam and participates with general interpretation inside and outside of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center.
Site Description
Glen Canyon Dam was built between the Navajo Sandstone walls of Glen Canyon near Page, Arizona, just below the Utah border, and holds back the waters of Lake
Powell. The Carl Hayden Visitor Center is located above the dam, and provides information to visitors about the Bureau of Reclamation and the National Park
Service. Lake Powell represents only 13% of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area; the rest of the 1.25 million acre park is slickrock and deep canyons that
provide excellent outdoor adventure and discovery.
Qualifications
Applicants should be able to work unsupervised, enthusiastic and proactive in communicating with visitors, possess excellent oratory skills, and be able to pass a
security background check. Knowledge of Glen Canyon Dam, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and the Colorado Plateau, and foreign language skills are a plus.
Season
The season begins in March and May 2012 and runs through mid-September 2012, and can extend through October 2012. Scheduled hours are 30 to 40 per week.
Salary
GS4/1 equivalent ($13.41 per hour)
