Glen Canyon Lecture Series

  • Page Community Center 699 South Navajo Drive Page, AZ, 86040 United States (map)

For more than half a century, beginning in the 1880s, members of the Wetherill family explored the Four Corners region, discovered archaeological sites, traded with the Navajo people, and guided horseback expeditions to places of wonder deep in the rugged backcountry. The speaker, Harvey Leake, has researched the history of his pioneering ancestors by visiting libraries, archives, historic locations, and the homes of family elders whose recollections, photographs, and memorabilia have helped bring the family story to life.

He will discuss the challenges of the project and insights he gleaned from studying the cumulative evidence. Harvey was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona and is a semi-retired electrical engineer.

Glen Canyon Lecture Series is a free community program open to the public. The monthly series is made possible through grant funding and maintained through a partnership between Glen Canyon Natural History Association, Page Public Library and The Powell Museum.
